The Billings Royals easily defeated Medicine Hat (Canada) in American Legion baseball play on Saturday, winning both games of a doubleheader at Pirtz Field. The Royals triumphed 7-5 in the first game and 15-3 in the second.
On Sunday, the Royals (9-7) completed the sweep by beating the Moose Monarchs 11-1.
In Game 1, Billings made a strong comeback from a 4-0 deficit in the second inning, scoring five runs in the sixth to secure the win. Chaise Tracy provided relief on the mound and earned the save by preventing Medicine Hat from scoring in the seventh.
Tracy also had an impressive performance at the plate, going 3 for 4 with five RBIs and a run, including a double and a home run. Waldron and Murdock contributed RBIs in Game 1 as well.
Starter Peyton Waskow pitched six innings, giving up five runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
In the second game, the Royals took a commanding 9-0 lead in the first inning and added five more runs in the third to mercy-rule Medicine Hat in five innings.
Tracy continued his strong performance with two hits and two RBIs, while Waldron, Denowh, and Jenkins-Antle also contributed with RBIs. Martin struck out six in four innings on the mound.
In Sunday’s game, Jenkins pitched the full five innings, limiting Medicine Hat to five hits while striking out two.
The Royals scored six runs in the fifth inning to end the game early.
Waldron, Denowh, and Wilson had notable performances at the plate, with Murdock, Denowh, and Jenkins hitting doubles and Wilson hitting a triple.
