MONTANA – Temperatures were again colder than normal today across Montana with 50s and lower 60s. Skies were partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers and mountain snow across the region. Winds ranged from 5 to 15 mph.
A storm system will bring widespread rain and mountain snow to far southcentral Montana and northern Wyoming through tomorrow.
Showers elsewhere across Montana will end this evening with Tuesday being fairly dry. That changes Wednesday and Thursday as low pressure moves across the northern Rockies.
Winter storm warnings and advisories for the Absaroka and Beartooth Mountains and Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming tonight and tomorrow where up to 16 inches of snow are possible.
Another strong storm system will move across the state Wednesday and Thursday bringing widespread rain and snow.
Some lower elevations of southwest Montana may see some snow.
There are numerous winter storm watches from the Bitterroot Range east to the passes of southwest Montana, including Bozeman Pass.
Snowfall of 3 to as much as 16 inches will be possible.
A flood watch is posted for the Little Belt and Highwood Mountains of central Montana where one to two inches of rain will be possible along with snow melt, bringing the threat of flooding. More unsettled weather is expected this weekend.
Temperatures will remain below normal, except across south central and eastern Montana on Wednesday when temperatures will be near normal in advance of a strong storm system moving into western Montana.
Lows tonight in the 30s to lower 40s with highs tomorrow in the 60s. Highs drop to the upper 40s, 50s and lower 60s Thursday rising to the upper 50s, 60s and lower 70s by Saturday.
