New York City Mayor Eric Adams is currently contemplating the possibility of revoking Sean “Diddy” Combs’ key to the city.
This decision comes after a surveillance video surfaced showing the rapper physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend and singer Cassie Ventura in 2016, which also supported claims she made in a recent lawsuit.
In an interview with Pix 11 News, Adams addressed inquiries about Diddy’s key to the city.
“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” the mayor expressed. “The committee and the team have never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”
“We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back with me with a final determination,” he added.
The music executive was granted a key to the city in September.

Combs, who was in a relationship with Ventura from 2007 to 2018, had previously denied all allegations made against him. These claims included physical abuse, providing drugs like ecstasy and cocaine, coercing her into sexual acts with male escorts while filming, and raping her in 2018.
However, after the surveillance footage of Diddy assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway surfaced, the rapper issued an apology.
“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” Combs stated in a video shared on social media.
Ventura’s lawyer responded to Combs’ apology, stating, “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt.” The lawyer emphasized that Combs’ denial of the allegations until they were proven false showed his insincerity.
Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November, which was settled the day after it was filed.
Combs has also faced accusations in other legal cases, including one from a music producer who claimed Combs was involved in criminal activities related to drugs, weapons, and sex trafficking, with some victims being minors.
Combs has refuted all the allegations against him in the remaining lawsuits, calling them “sickening.”
