New York City Mayor Eric Adams is currently contemplating revoking Sean “Diddy” Combs’ key to the city.
This decision comes after the release of surveillance footage showing the rapper assaulting his ex-girlfriend and singer Cassie Ventura in 2016. These actions were further corroborated by Ventura’s recent lawsuit.
In an interview with Pix 11 News, Adams responded to inquiries regarding Diddy’s key to the city.
“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” the mayor stated. “The committee and the team have never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be.”
“We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back with me with a final determination,” he added.
The key to the city was bestowed upon the music executive in September.

Surveillance video appears to show Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs assaulting ex-girlfriend

Combs, who was in a relationship with Ventura from 2007 to 2018, had previously denied all allegations made against him by her. These allegations included physical abuse, providing drugs like ecstasy and cocaine, coercing her into sexual acts with male prostitutes while filming them, and raping her in 2018.
However, after the release of the surveillance footage depicting the assault, Diddy issued a public apology.
“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” Combs expressed in a video shared on social media.
Despite this, Ventura’s lawyer responded critically.
“Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words,” stated Meredith Firetog, partner at Wigdor LLP.
Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in November, which was settled the following day.
The rapper has faced additional allegations in other legal cases, including one from a music producer claiming that Combs operated a RICO enterprise aimed at obtaining and transporting drugs, firearms, and sex workers, some of whom were minors.
Combs has adamantly denied all accusations against him in the remaining lawsuits, labeling them as “sickening.”
