The Billings Flying Mustangs are hosting their Jet Rally and Fun Fly in the Magic City this week, welcoming everyone to witness the thrill of turbines and electric jets reaching speeds of up to 200 MPH.
Chris Kaiser, a board member of the Billings Flying Mustangs, mentions that their club, a nonprofit organization with a history of over 50 years, aims to raise funds and promote interest in radio controlled flying jets through these events.
Kaiser, who has been flying since 1975, shares how he first became involved in flying jets.
“We refer to it as a Jet rally and fun fly, inviting turbine and electric jet flyers to participate,” Kaiser said. “I got into it because my dad was a flyer when I was young, and he introduced me to control line planes, where you have a handle and move in a circle to control the plane.”
The event runs from May 23 to May 26 at 8223 Grand Avenue, offering free admission for spectators who are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
Pilots interested in participating can register for a $30 entrance fee, with pilot registration opening this Thursday.
