Taylor Swift is the talk of the town in the music industry and even in the political arena, especially among her fans who vote.
A recent poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek revealed the significant impact the “Tortured Poet” has on her fans’ choices for presidential candidates. With the upcoming election showing a close race between the two main nominees, a Swift endorsement could potentially sway the votes in favor of one candidate.
Out of 1,500 voters surveyed on May 1, 18% expressed that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift. In comparison, 15% stated that they would be less likely to vote for a candidate supported by Swift. While this may seem like a small margin, it could make a difference when the votes are counted in November.
The poll also showed that Swift’s endorsement for a Republican candidate would be more convincing. Despite 47% of respondents indicating they would vote for Democratic candidate President Joe Biden, 21% expressed they would support presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump if Swift endorsed them. Additionally, the data revealed a 22% increase in Biden 2020 voters who would switch to vote for the GOP candidate if endorsed by Swift, as compared to a previous poll in January.
On the other hand, the impact of Swift’s endorsement was also noticeable among Trump 2020 voters, with 16% stating they would vote for a Democrat backed by Swift, compared to 13% in the previous poll.
Both the January and May polls mentioned had a margin of error of +/-2.53%, according to the data provided.

Swift’s influence extends beyond the music industry, with her Eras Tour boosting local economies and driving various sectors such as travel and live events. The U.S. Travel Association estimated the economic impact of the Eras Tour to be $10 billion, showcasing the vast reach of Swift’s influence.
Although Swift usually refrains from actively participating in politics, she has become more vocal about voter registration and her political views in recent election cycles. In past elections, she supported Democratic candidates and expressed her opposition to Trump. While Swift has remained relatively quiet this year, her endorsement could potentially tilt the scales in favor of one of the leading candidates, as suggested by the Newsweek survey.
