Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson, known for being the most prolific running quarterback in the league, is focused on challenging opposing defenses even more in the upcoming season. Fresh off his second NFL Most Valuable Player award, Jackson has shed some weight and looks slimmer during the team’s OTAs this week. While he didn’t disclose his exact weight on Wednesday, simply stating it was “two something,” Jackson recently mentioned in a video shared by Complex Sports that he was currently at 205 pounds after previously being 230 pounds in 2022 and 215 pounds last season. In the previous season, Jackson threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns, as well as rushed for 821 yards and five scores, leading the Ravens to a 13-3 record in 16 regular-season starts. “I’m not exactly sure how many pounds I lost,” explained the 27-year-old Jackson. “I’m around ‘two something’ right now. But I’ll just say that it has been important to help me move around a bit more.” Standing at 6-foot-2, Jackson mentioned that he lost weight in order to enhance his agility and mobility. He expressed feeling great at his lighter weight and as agile as he has felt in years. Jackson believes that his ability to withstand the physical demands of his position, especially as a running quarterback, will not be diminished by his weight loss. “We put our bodies on the line every game and in practice,” he stated. “I think it really doesn’t matter about the weight.” His coach, John Harbaugh, doesn’t seem worried about a lighter and faster Jackson. “I think that’s just Lamar, he’s a professional,” Harbaugh commented. “He knows what he’s doing and where he wants to be with that. My main concern is that he is in the best shape of his life.” Jackson, a three-time Pro Bowl selection and first-team All-Pro in 2019 and 2023, has accumulated 15,887 passing yards and 125 touchdown passes, as well as 5,258 rushing yards and 29 scores in 86 games (77 starts) since being drafted 32nd overall by the Ravens in the 2018 NFL Draft from Louisville. –Field Level Media
