Authorities, including police and a SWAT team, conducted a raid at the residence of singer Sean Kingston in South Florida on Thursday. The raid resulted in the arrest of his mother on fraud and theft charges.
Deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and SWAT team members from Davie, Florida, were spotted at Kingston’s Southwest Ranches home, which is located 15 miles outside of Fort Lauderdale. They were serving arrest and search warrants.
Media reports indicated that Kingston, also known as Kisean Anderson, was not present during the raid. However, his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner, was taken into custody from the 14,000-square-foot rental property.
The sheriff’s office, in response to inquiries by The Associated Press, refrained from disclosing specific information about the charges against Turner or whether Kingston himself could be facing legal consequences in connection with the ongoing investigation. Scripps News’ request for comment from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office remains unanswered.

Reports suggest that the incident is linked to an unpaid $150,000 entertainment system, which includes a 232-inch TV and sound system. Allegedly, Kingston promised the company owners that he and Justin Bieber would endorse the company in commercials if they agreed to a reduced down payment and credit.
In a now-deleted post on his Instagram story, Kingston appeared to acknowledge the raid while minimizing its significance. “People thrive on negativity! I want to assure everyone that my mother and I are fine. Our legal team is handling the situation,” the post stated.
Kingston gained prominence in the mid-2000s with hit songs that have amassed millions of streams on Spotify. Some of his notable tracks include “Eenie Meenie” with Justin Bieber, his chart-topping 2007 single “Beautiful Girls,” and “Fire Burning.”
