Police and a SWAT team raided singer Sean Kingston’s home in South Florida Thursday, resulting in the arrest of his mother on fraud and theft charges.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies and SWAT team members from Davie, Florida, were seen at the musician’s Southwest Ranches residence, which is located 15 miles outside of Fort Lauderdale, serving arrest and search warrants.
Several media reports indicated that Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was not present at the time of the raid. However, his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner, was taken into custody as she left the 14,000-square-foot rental home.
The sheriff’s office informed The Associated Press that specific information about her charges or any legal action against Kingston in relation to the investigation could not be disclosed. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has not yet responded to Scripps News’ request for comment.

Reports have indicated that the incident is related to an unpaid $150,000 entertainment system, which includes a 232-inch TV and sound system, for which Kingston has allegedly failed to make full payment. The singer reportedly promised the owners of the company that he and Justin Bieber would do commercials for them in exchange for a reduced down payment and credit.
In a now-deleted Instagram story post on Thursday, Kingston appeared to confirm the raid while minimizing its impact, stating, “People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
Kingston gained fame in the mid-2000s and is best known for his successful music career, with several popular songs on Spotify, including collaborations with Justin Bieber like “Eenie Meenie,” his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” and “Fire Burning.”
