KALISPELL — The Selah Natural Medicine Girls Wrestling Scholarship winners for Montana were announced in a press release on Tuesday.
The scholarship winners with their high school and college choice are: Paige Gershmel, Billings Senior, Simpson College (Iowa); Gretchen Donally, Huntley Project, Colorado Mesa; Clara Laird, Havre, Dickinson State (North Dakota); Kaylin Taylor, Great Falls, University of Cumberlands (Kentucky); Hailey Sutton, Florence, undecided; Lucille Libby, Flathead Kalispell, Idaho; and Kierra Case, Butte, Montana.
Each of the winners were eligible to receive up to a $1,000 scholarship. This is the second straight year Dr. Chip Halverson, ND, a physician in Kalispell and Portland, Oregon, Oregon has offered the scholarship. With interest in the scholarship growing, it was decided to increase the number and amount of scholarship available.

According to the press release, “while you do not need to be a state champion or on the honor roll to apply, you do need to demonstrate character, integrity, determination and a willingness to help others.”
Halverson said he is exploring ways to expand the scholarship.
“We would like to grow the scholarship in the future with continuing scholarship for current Montana women wrestling at the college level and add to the enthusiasm for more women’s college programs in Montana,” he said.
