The names Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are synonymous with the unprecedented support for women’s sports in the U.S., and the two WNBA rookie phenoms are already making a splash with their new teams.
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever in last month’s draft, achieved a career-high 30 points on Tuesday night, along with six assists and five rebounds. Despite her outstanding performance, the Fever lost 88-82 in a close game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

On the other hand, Reese scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Chicago Sky on Tuesday, marking her first double-double in her professional career. Despite the Sky’s 68-77 loss to the Seattle Storm, Reese, who was drafted seventh overall by Chicago, is averaging 12 points and nearly nine rebounds per game this season.
Both Clark and Reese are displaying glimpses of the stardom that made them household names in college as they adjust to the fast-paced WNBA. The increased attention and investment in women’s sports, especially the WNBA, are evident, with the league announcing a $50 million investment in charter flights for teams over the next two years and a plan to expand by four teams before 2028.
