CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In any city or town in America, you’ll find kids with dreams of pro football. It’s different in Nice, France.
By the time he was 15, the new Carolina Panther defensive end had no knowledge of American football. Despite his size and athletic potential, he hadn’t considered the sport due to the lack of a professional league in France. After encouragement from friends and family and discovering the American football French National Team, he tried it out and fell in love with the game.
Now approaching his second season in the NFL, the 25-year-old lineman signed with the Panthers through the NFL’s International Player Pathway program. This program allows international athletes to compete in the NFL, providing teams the opportunity to add them to the roster without taking up spots during the preseason.
After spending time on the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad last season, he aims to become the 38th player from the program to make an NFL roster. Despite the odds, he remains optimistic about his dream of playing in the league.
During an interview with The Charlotte Observer, Aho shared his unconventional journey to the NFL and his excitement about joining the Panthers.
