Do you recall this time last year when movies like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” and “Fast X” dominated the box office? Unfortunately, 2024’s summer movie season is off to a slow start, with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” failing to make a mark over Memorial Day weekend. Even the family-friendly film “IF” is struggling. Despite being this year’s box office leader, “Dune: Part Two” has yet to surpass the $300 million mark domestically. (For the complete list, visit Box Office Mojo.)
