Yellowstone National Park has reported that an 83-year-old woman was attacked by a bison near the Storm Point Trail at Yellowstone Lake on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
According to a park press release, the woman from Greenville, South Carolina sustained serious injuries in the attack. The bison was said to be defending its territory, approaching the woman closely and lifting her about a foot off the ground with its horns.
The injured woman was initially taken to the Lake Medical Clinic and later airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
No updates on the woman’s current condition were provided, and her identity was not disclosed in the release.
