Following the guilty verdict of former President Donald Trump, Tim Sheehy’s Republican campaign for U.S. Senate released an ad accusing his Democratic opponent Sen. Jon Tester of supporting violence against Trump.
Trump, who has endorsed Sheehy for Montana’s Senate seat, was convicted on 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records in connection to a hush money payment to a porn star.
“It’s lawfare. A state-sponsored political persecution led by Joe Biden and the radical left,” the voiceover in the ad states. “They want to throw Trump in jail, trying to rob Americans of their choice in the election, and Jon Tester is standing right by their side. Tester even advocated for violence against President Trump.”
The case against Trump was brought by New York’s district attorney and has no federal affiliation with Biden’s Department of Justice.
