Wyoming’s flagship racetrack opens on Saturday under new ownership.
Wyoming Downs will conduct Thoroughbred and Quarter-Horse racing at the Evanston track on the weekends through Aug. 11, a press release from states.
Las Vegas-based ECL Entertainment and Clairvest Group are the new owners of the racetrack as of May, taking over from a partnership headed by Eric Nelson that ran the operations for the past 11 years.
Gates will open at 11:30 a.m., and first post is 1:05 p.m. General admission is $10; children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
The purses are larger this year, too: “Following up on last year’s record $2 million in purses, Wyoming Downs this year is offering $2.4 million for the upcoming meet, based on projected average daily purses of $120,000,” the release said.
