National Donut Day is celebrated this year on June 7 through deals for free, discounted or specialty-flavored donuts at stores across the U.S.
Americans have celebrated National Donut Day on the first Friday in June since 1938 to recognize The Salvation Army Donut Lassies. These women established field bases and provided materials and baked goods to World War I soldiers. The Donut Lassies are credited with popularizing the treat in the U.S. after the war ended.
To this day, several chains and franchises celebrate National Donut Day, including Dunkin’ and Krispy Kreme, by offering free food and deals. Don’t forget to check your favorite local shop for deals as well.

Here are some of today’s Donut Day deals and freebies:
7-Eleven: Loyalty members can get a freshly baked $1 glazed donut at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores.
Duck Donuts: Anyone who visits a participating location can get a free cinnamon sugar doughnut. Customers do not need to make a purchase.
Dunkin’: Customers who visit this popular doughnut chain will get a free classic donut with a drink purchase.
Casey’s: Rewards members can get a free doughnut, and score a half-dozen doughnuts for $4.99 through June 16.
Krispy Kreme: Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut of most varieties at its stores on June 7. No purchase is necessary. Plus, if you buy a dozen Original Glazed donuts, you can get an additional dozen for $2.
Tim Horton’s: Tim’s Rewards loyalty program members can get a free donut with any drink purchase.
