Hunter Biden is getting ready for another day in court on Friday in Wilmington, Delaware, as his federal gun trial continues.
The prosecution is working hard to prove that the son of the president lied about drug use on a federal form in order to buy a gun in 2018. Biden is facing three federal charges and could potentially receive a 25-year prison sentence if found guilty.
Hallie Biden, widow of the president’s late son Beau Biden, has recently testified in the case. Beau, who passed away from brain cancer in 2015, was Hunter’s brother. Hunter and Hallie were romantically involved after Beau’s passing.
Her testimony has been crucial in detailing Hunter’s drug use and recalling the moment she discovered and disposed of his gun.
Hallie admitted in court that Hunter introduced her to drugs, expressing her regret and shame for that period of her life.
A man who found the gun Hallie discarded in a trash can at a grocery store also testified, claiming he considered selling it before a state trooper retrieved it from his home later on.
The prosecution plans to call two witnesses on Friday, while the defense intends to call two or three witnesses as well.
In a separate development, President Joe Biden made it clear that he would not intervene to protect his son from any legal consequences resulting from the trial. He publicly stated that he would not pardon his son if he is convicted.
