Montana Free Press today announced the inaugural Free Press Fest, a two-day event taking place September 5-7, 2024, at the University of Montana. The festival aims to promote civic engagement, celebrate the state’s rich culture, and advance conversations around issues that matter to Montanans.
Presented by the nonprofit, nonpartisan, public-powered news organization Montana Free Press, Free Press Fest will feature an array of engaging activities, including panel discussions, keynote speeches and interactive workshops with thought leaders, policy experts, independent journalists and engaged Montana citizens. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of topics, from Montana’s political landscape to the future of journalism and the upcoming legislative outlook, through thought-provoking civil conversations and shared experiences.
“We are excited to launch the Free Press Fest as a platform for fostering informed, civil dialogue, celebrating Montana’s unique heritage, and empowering our community to make a difference,” said MTFP Editor-in-Chief and Executive Director John Adams. “As we approach the 2024 election cycle and confront various challenges facing our state, the Fest serves as a crucial opportunity for Montanans to come together, exchange ideas, and drive positive change.”
The festival will feature prominent thought leaders, policymakers, and community activists from within Montana and beyond. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to engage with local artists and authors, participate in interactive workshops, and connect with organizations dedicated to civic engagement and social justice.
In conjunction with the University of Montana, MTFP is committed to creating an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and perspectives. Through open dialogue, meaningful connections, and shared experiences, the Free Press Fest aims to empower attendees to actively contribute to the future of our state.
