Naomi, daughter of Hunter Biden, shared her testimony on Friday during his federal gun trial. She spoke about visiting her father at a rehab facility in California and mentioned that he appeared to be making progress in the weeks leading up to his 2018 revolver purchase.
Naomi recounted how Hunter reached out to her while in rehab, and she had not seen him in a long time. She described him as seeming improved during her visit. Before leaving the stand, she embraced her father in the courtroom.
The defense then began calling witnesses, with Hunter Biden’s attorney questioning the gun store clerk who witnessed the firearm purchase. Inconsistencies on the purchase form were brought up, along with concerns about using Hunter’s passport for the sale without the required license plate number.
Naomi’s testimony included details about her trip from Washington to New York with her father in October 2018. She mentioned moving her boyfriend’s belongings in her father’s truck and Joe Biden’s Cadillac. During this time, she observed no signs of drug use or drug paraphernalia.
Prosecutors presented texts showing moments where Hunter did not respond promptly to Naomi’s messages or asked for car keys late at night. The court adjourned for lunch with Hunter Biden accompanied by his family, including his mother Jill Biden.
Witnesses testified earlier in the week about Hunter Biden’s drug addiction and personal struggles. The trial will resume on Monday, with the defense considering additional witnesses, including Joe Biden’s brother James.
President Biden has expressed support for his son, balancing his roles as president and father. He confirmed he would accept the jury’s verdict and ruled out a pardon for Hunter. The trial coincides with President Biden’s visit to France for D-Day anniversary events.
Hunter Biden faces three felonies related to his gun purchase and drug use. He pleaded not guilty and previously attempted a plea deal that was not finalized. The trial has brought attention to his addiction struggles and raised questions about his state of mind during the firearm purchase.
Law enforcement became involved in the case when Hallie Biden discovered the revolver in Hunter’s truck and disposed of it. If convicted, Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison. He also has a pending trial in September for tax-related charges.
