Your next rideshare driver could be armed.
BlackWolf App, a new ride-hailing service with vetted drivers who carry guns, is expanding in the U.S.
The company touts its services as a safer alternative to Uber and Lyft because it exclusively hires drivers with backgrounds in law enforcement, the military, or security.
Originally launched in Atlanta, BlackWolf has now extended its services to Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
BlackWolf assures riders of safety and peace of mind.
Riders can choose between riding with a screened driver through BlackWolf Premium or opting for a screened driver who also carries a gun through BlackWolf Armed.
The base fare for BlackWolf Premium is $20, while for BlackWolf Armed it’s $30.
“Our pricing is very competitive with Uber Black, and it can sometimes be lower depending on the distance and time,” the company states on its website. “We are for everyday Americans who want to feel safe without breaking the bank to do so.”
Kerry KingBrown founded the company after learning of a female friend who had been sex trafficked and wanted to enhance women’s protection, according to BlackWolf.
“BlackWolf App was started to ensure women’s safety from evil people, and it’s now expanded to a ride-hailing service for all,” the company says.
BlackWolf shares that it has received numerous messages from women worldwide who feel vulnerable or unsafe with other ride-hailing companies.
“The big ride-hail companies will pretty much hire anybody to drive,” the company remarks.
Riders seeking personal security can send an email request for a licensed security driver, and the ride can then be arranged through the app.
BlackWolf also caters to events and accommodates group transportation needs, which can be arranged via email as well.
Uber and Lyft have regulations prohibiting drivers from carrying guns, a safety measure implemented by the companies.
