The Montana Department of Transportation and its partner, Helena Sand and Gravel, are beginning work on the York Road – Helena Pavement Preservation project on June 10, weather and other factors permitting.
The project begins just before the intersection with Birkland Drive at mile marker 1, and extends for about 3 miles, ending near Fox Ridge Golf Course at the roundabout with Lake Helena Drive, at mile marker 4.4.
Work will include a scrub seal, new overlay, a seal and cover (chip seal), and fog seal. Crews will return later in the summer to perform final sweeping and apply permanent epoxy striping. Signage and delineation upgrades will be done as well.
The project is to extend the service life of the roadway and enhance roadway safety features.
Motorists should expect single-lane traffic through the project area, controlled by flaggers, pilot cars and temporary traffic lights, and delays up to 15 minutes.
