We’ve reached the third major of the golf season as we head down to Pinehurst in North Carolina for the U.S. Open this coming week from June 13-16.
There are plenty of ways to wager on this event at online sportsbooks and below, we examine the odds and make our favorite U.S. Open long-shot picks heading into the action at Pinehurst on Thursday.Â

U.S. Open long shots picks: Brooks Koepka, Wyndham Clark & more
At the top of the odds board are Scottie Scheffler (+300), Rory McIlroy (+1000) and Xander Schauffele (+1000), with some combination of Viktor Hovland, Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa rounding out the top six at most sites.
Below are our favorite U.S. Open dark horse picks to watch once you get below the first tier:
U.S. Open 2024 long shot odds: Brooks Koepka (+2200 or better)
Koepka returned to form in 2023 after a few mediocre years to win the PGA Championship and finish as one of the runner-ups at The Masters.
He had a brutal outing at the 2024 Masters and was only in the middle of the pack at the PGA Championship last weekend. But he’s still one of the best golfers in the world and just won a LIV Golf League outing in Singapore on May 5.
This number was up to +2400 a couple of weeks ago and has shrunk a bit, as Koepka still remains in the top 10 on the odds board.Â
Long shot picks for 2024 U.S. Open: Wyndham Clark (+7000 or better)
The reigning U.S. Open champion returns to defend his title from a year ago. Clark won the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club with a -10, edging out Rory McIlroy by one stroke.
Clark got his third PGA Tour win at Pebble Beach back in February and is currently the No. 4 ranked golfer in the world.Â
He’s struggled of late and the odds have plummeted to 60/1, so getting these odds for a guy of his caliber feels like a steal here.
2024 U.S. Open dark horse picks: Will Zalatoris (+6500 or better)
Following a T9 at The Masters, Will Zalatoris has not been lighting it up. That said, he’s got a pair of top-10 finishes at the U.S. Open and for that alone, 65-to-1 is too long.Â
Elite ball striking continues to be a recipe for success at the U.S. Open and Zalatoris is among the leaders on tour this season in SG: Approach and is known as one of the best iron players there is.Â
