Betty Anne Rees, known for her roles in My Three Sons, The Unholy Rollers, and Sugar Hill, passed away at the age of 81.
Rees, who died at her home in Hemet, California, had been facing health challenges, including falls and a possible stroke, in addition to living with multiple sclerosis, as confirmed by her niece Kathleen Loucks to The Hollywood Reporter.
Born Elizabeth Anne Rees in Shaker Heights, Ohio, on April 14, 1943, she had a diverse education background from Shaker Heights High School, University of Miami, and the Pasadena Playhouse. She started her career with appearances in soap operas like General Hospital and The Doctors.
In the early 1970s, Rees made guest appearances on popular TV shows like The F.B.I., Adam-12, Mannix, and Mod Squad.
Her most notable role was as Janet Ingram in the final season of ABC‘s My Three Sons, where she portrayed the secretary of the character played by Fred MacMurray.
In the 1972 film Unholy Rollers, she portrayed Mickey, a roller derby star facing challenges from her rising teammate Karen (Claudia Jennings), with the movie featuring notable names like Roger Corman as an executive producer and Martin Scorsese as an editor, as noted by THR.
She also starred in the 1974 blaxploitation movie Sugar Hill, playing Celeste, the girlfriend of mob boss Morgan (Robert Quarry), who meets a grim fate orchestrated by zombies.
Her later TV appearances included roles in Police Woman, S.W.A.T., Police Story, The Streets of San Francisco, Lou Grant, and Barnaby Jones. Her final on-screen performance was in 1978, with a guest role on The Incredible Hulk.
After retiring from acting, Rees ventured into running a weight-loss center and designing kitchens.
