Israel conducted its most significant hostage rescue operation since the recent conflict with Hamas in central Gaza, saving four individuals amidst heavy air and ground attacks. According to a Gaza health official, at least 210 Palestinians, including children, lost their lives.
The Israeli army successfully freed Noa Argamani, 26; Almog Meir Jan, 22; Andrey Kozlov, 27; and Shlomi Ziv, 41, from the heart of Nuseirat. Although the operation faced hostile fire, all hostages were unharmed and taken to safety. They underwent medical exams and emotional reunions with their families after spending 246 days in captivity.
Argamani, one of the most recognizable hostages, was abducted along with the others from a music festival. Her mother, Liora, who is battling brain cancer, had appealed for her daughter’s release. Argamani expressed her excitement to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and emphasized her longing to hear Hebrew again.
Netanyahu pledged to continue the fight until all hostages are rescued. The operation was described as daring, meticulously planned, and skillfully executed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Following the operation, a total of 210 Palestinians, including 23 children and 11 women, were taken to hospitals where they received medical treatment. Khalil Degran, a hospital spokesperson, confirmed the high number of casualties, with more than 100 individuals sustaining injuries.
Israel’s actions were strongly condemned by Hamas, with senior official Bassem Naim accusing Netanyahu of escalating violence and disregarding peaceful negotiations.
Despite the successful rescue operation, the conflict between Israel and Gaza continues to escalate, leading to civilian casualties and widespread devastation in the region. The international community is urging both parties to prioritize peace and humanitarian concerns.
