Actor Alec Baldwin’s legal troubles are escalating as he is confronted with a new lawsuit related to the tragic shooting incident on the set of his movie “Rust.”
Baldwin, who is set to go on trial this summer for involuntary manslaughter charges in connection to the shooting that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuries to director Joel Souza, is now being sued by Hutchins’ family and a crew member. Baldwin has entered a plea of not guilty and maintains that he did not pull the trigger of the gun.

The lawsuit, brought forth by Hutchins’ parents, sister, and script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, accuses Baldwin of assault, battery, and causing emotional distress. It also points fingers at several other individuals involved with the movie for negligence.
Hannah Gutierrez, who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March for her role as the film’s armorer in the deadly incident, is named in the lawsuit along with others who testified at her trial, including assistant director David Halls, prop master Sarah Zachry, and ammunition supplier Seth Kenney.
Hutchins’ parents and sister, who reside in Kyiv, Ukraine, joined forces with Mitchell in filing the lawsuit due to their close involvement in the tragic event.

The plaintiffs hold Baldwin primarily accountable for the negligence and unsafe practices on set, which includes the absence of a medical team. While other crew members and producers share the blame, Baldwin is singled out for a significant portion of the responsibility.
Baldwin, crew members, and producers had previously settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins’ widow and son. The terms of that settlement remain confidential.
