The Chicago Bears have re-signed Marcedes Lewis to a one-year contract, making him the oldest tight end in NFL history at the age of 40. No financial details of the deal were disclosed. Lewis, who will be entering his 19th season in 2024, has played in 268 games, ranking third among tight ends in career games played behind Jason Witten (271) and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (270). During the 2023 season, Lewis played in all 17 games for the Bears, starting in four of them. He recorded four receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown. Originally a first-round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006, Lewis has accumulated 436 receptions, 5,113 yards, and 40 touchdowns throughout his career with the Jaguars (2006-2017), Green Bay Packers (2018-2022), and Bears.
