Moby is currently touring Europe for the first time in over ten years, and he has decided to donate all the proceeds from his concerts to support animal rights, a cause that he now considers his primary focus.
His dedication to animal rights is evident in his tattoos which boldly display “ANIMAL” and “RIGHTS” along his arms, and “Vegan for Life” on his neck.
“I have been a vegan for 37 years,” he shared with AFP. “Advocating for animal rights is my life’s purpose now.
“I no longer see music as just a job. It has become a peaceful and joyful sanctuary for me.”
As Moby, or Richard Melville Hall, achieved immense success with his record “Play” 25 years ago, selling over 20 million records worldwide, he is now 58 and returning to Europe for a series of seven concert dates, with the proceeds being split among eight or nine animal rights and climate organizations, the names of which will be announced in the near future.
He has committed to performing fan-favorite hits from albums like “Play” and “18” during his tour.
Reflecting on his early days in punk bands in New York, Moby emphasized the importance of performing songs that fans love and can connect with.
On a more serious note, Moby spends much of his time lobbying for animal rights in politics and believes that many politicians are hesitant to take action due to fears surrounding the upcoming election and the influence of individuals like Donald Trump, whom he considers a sociopath.
His dedication to veganism stems from his challenging childhood experiences and a deep connection with animals.
While he used to bear witness to animals being taken to slaughterhouses, he now focuses on a strategic approach to advocacy, involving various sectors like politics, philanthropy, and media.
