BILLINGS — Chances for rain and isolated thunderstorms will decrease throughout the day, but a cold front forming over eastern Montana may lead to strong to severe storms in that area this afternoon, with the possibility of strong winds and hail.
A zonal flow will bring dry conditions for the remainder of the week, although a weak cold front could bring more rain and storms mid-week. Another low-pressure system from the Pacific may bring additional rain chances over the weekend.
With daytime temperatures reaching the 70s and 80s this week, snowmelt is expected to increase, causing water levels in streams and rivers near the foothills to rise close to bankfull. Minor flooding is possible in flood-prone areas along the Clarks Fork River, so residents should monitor the situation and take necessary precautions to safeguard property and livestock. Widespread flooding is not anticipated.
