When asked about their Father’s Day gift preferences, nearly a third of dads expressed that they do not want anything, according to a recent survey. Some dads mentioned they would appreciate a meal out or a gift card as a present.
The survey, conducted by YouGov, revealed that 32% of fathers stated they do not want any gifts for Father’s Day, with going out for a meal or drink being the top desired choice. The survey polled 500 fathers to determine the top gifts they would like this year:
- 32% – Nothing
- 19% – Taken out for drinks/a meal
- 18% – Greeting card
- 17% – Gift card
- 16% – Alcohol
Interestingly, the least favored gift option was an experience, such as a sports lesson or skydiving.
Regarding activities, 58% of dads expressed their desire to spend time with their children on Father’s Day. Additionally, the survey found that 42% would prefer a meal at home, 30% would like to dine out, and 24% mentioned watching a movie or TV show of their choosing.
Some dads simply want some alone time, as 19% expressed their interest in spending time alone, while 15% mentioned they would prefer to do nothing.
The National Retail Federation predicts that $22.4 billion will be spent on Father’s Day this year. The estimated spending includes $4.5 billion on special outings, $3.5 billion on clothing, and $2.9 billion on gift cards.
The NRF highlights that individuals aged 25-34 are anticipated to be the highest spenders, with an average expenditure of $275.67 this Father’s Day.
