The beloved film “Practical Magic” is making a comeback with a sequel.
Warner Bros. Pictures officially announced the news on Monday through a series of TikTok teasers featuring scenes from the original movie, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as sisters, Sally and Gillian Owens.
One teaser shows the magical sisters dancing around their famous “midnight margaritas” with a text overlay announcing the sequel. The caption confirms, “Practical Magic 2 is happening!”
The studio also confirmed the sequel on X with nostalgic clips, including one of Bullock’s character running towards her love interest with “Practical Magic 2” displayed on the screen.
The original movie, released in 1998, has gained a dedicated following despite receiving a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Based on Alice Hoffman’s novel, the film follows the Owens sisters and their journey through love and magic, guided by their quirky aunts who come from a long line of witches.
Filmed primarily in Washington state, on San Juan and Whidbey Islands, both locations have become popular spots for fans of the movie.
While it’s uncertain if Bullock and Kidman will reprise their roles in the sequel, Warner Bros. has not revealed a release date for the film.
But one thing remains constant: “Always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck and fall in love whenever you can.”
