GIBBON, Neb. — The Gibbon family that bought the Cosmo Treats food trailer includes an 11-year-old entrepreneur.
The family already has an ice cream truck. Jackson Thornburg, who’s 11, owns the truck.
Jackson Thornburg (11, right) serves Jason White of Minden a root beer float on Wednesday, June 12 in Gibbon. Thornburg’s dream job is to open up an ice cream shop with a storefront.
When the family bought the ice cream truck, Jackson had $4,000 in his savings account. A family member gave him a loan to make up the difference.
The family has been selling ice cream out of the truck since July 4 of last year.
Business is very good, said Jim Rayburn, who’s the head of the family.
Rayburn bought the food trailer from Nebraska’s Platte River Cosmopolitan Club to expand the business, and to serve as insurance in case the ice cream truck needs work.
