For those who feel they are dragging at about 4 p.m. on a warm summer day, take heart, Alive at Five returns Wednesday to Helena for its summer run.
From 5-9 p.m. at Women’s Park, Alive at Five will feature 710 Ashbury, a four-piece Grateful Dead tribute band. Speakers will highlight Juneteenth and announce the week’s activities.
Stop by the Juneteenth Planning Committee’s tent for a schedule of activities, photos and information on Black history in Montana and to create art to contribute to the community exhibit at the Holter. There is a $2 donation for a wristband to purchase alcohol, and proceeds will go to Montana Black Collective Missoula.
The events alternate through the summer between Women’s Park, 757 Fuller Ave., and Lewis and Clark Tap Room, 1535 Dodge Ave., except for a July 17 get-together at Ten Mile Brewery at 48 N. Last Chance Gulch.

The free live weekly Wednesday music event, which runs weekly on Wednesdays through Aug. 21, now has 25 business sponsors for its 27th season, with two of the diamond sponsors being Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. and Rocky Mountain Credit Union, organizers said. It was at risk of being canceled due to the dissolving of its previous host, Downtown Helena Inc., at the beginning of the year. Other sponsors include Capital City Health Club, Helena Indian Alliance, Dick Anderson Construction and more.
It also has roughly 20 individual “Alive at Fiver” sponsors, which are community members who don’t own a business, but wanted to show their support for the event.
Lewis and Clark Brewing Co. took over as a main sponsor of the event, but knew it was going to take a lot of money to put together, according to founder Max Pigman.
