A heat wave is currently affecting much of the U.S. with sweltering high temperatures expected to last through the weekend.
While upper New England will see some relief from the heat after near triple digit temperatures this week, the heat dome is moving to other parts of the country. Over 100 million Americans are under heat advisories, with 25 million facing excessive heat watches.
The National Weather Service has issued warnings for scorching temperatures in the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Mid-Atlantic regions this weekend, with some areas reaching triple digits.
It’s crucial not to ignore signs of heat-related illness.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, cold pale and clammy skin, muscle cramps, tiredness or weakness, and dizziness. Heat stroke symptoms include a high body temperature, hot, red or damp skin, headache, dizziness, and nausea.
Stay hydrated and cool this weekend as the high temperatures are expected to persist. Cooling centers will be available in various cities for those in need of relief.
