OMAHA, Neb. — The Billings Scarlets defeated the Tushka (Oklahoma) Tigers 13-1 and the Wisconsin Silver Sluggers 11-3 at an American Legion baseball tournament here on Saturday to improve to 5-0 at the event.
In the five games in Omaha, the Scarlets (29-4) have outscored their opponents 62-7.
Zach Stewart pitched the full five innings in the victory over the Tigers. He held the opposition to four hits and one earned run scored in the top of the fifth. Stewart walked three and struck out nine.
Scarlets leadoff batter Nolan Berkram batted 3 for 4, including a triple, with two runs and an RBI. Hunter Doyle was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Jaron Pinter tripled and drove in two for the Scarlets.
Kade Vatnsdal batted 2 for 2 for the winners with two runs and an RBI. Brady Randall doubled and scored twice and Mason Brosseau also doubled. Kyler Northrop plated two runs.

In the second game, the Scarlets — whose pitchers have thrown two no-hitters in the tournament — limited the Silver Sluggers to a pair of hits. Vatnsdal pitched the first five innings and scattered two hits, three runs (all earned) and three walks with three strikeouts. Zach McDonald relieved and pitched the final hitless sixth and struck out one batter.
Nathan McDonald batted 3 for 4, with two triples, three runs and four RBIs. Drew McDowell was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Colter Wilson batted 3 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Brosseau and Northrop each scored twice.
Billings didn’t commit any errors over the two games.
