This sets a new record for the highest-grossing animated movie in its second weekend in theaters. Only six movies have had better second weekends in history. Previously, the best second weekend for an animated film was $92 million for âThe Super Mario Bros. Movie.â After only a week and a half, âInside Out 2â has become the highest-grossing film of 2024 to date, with $724.4 million globally. It is expected to surpass the $1 billion mark within the next week, making it the first film to do so since âBarbie.â
Tragic shark attack claims the life of a Hawaii lifeguard while surfing off Oahu
Hawaii authorities reported that a professional lifeguard lost his life in a shark attack while surfing off the coast of Oahu. City and County of Honolulu Ocean Safety lifeguard Tamayo Perry, aged 49, fell victim to the attack near Goat Island on Sunday. Shayne Enright from the Honolulu Emergency Services Department stated that Honolulu police, fire, and rescue teams responded to MÄlaekahana Beach just before 1 p.m. after a witness reported spotting a man with apparent shark bites. Lifeguards brought Perry back to shore via jet ski, and paramedics confirmed his passing. Missing California boy, 4, found safe after 22 hours alone in wilderness
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) â A 4-year-old boy from California who strayed from a campground in the Sierra National Forest was discovered unharmed after spending 22 hours in the wilderness alone. A search-and-rescue team of approximately 50 officers and volunteers began the search around 11 a.m. Thursday after the child was reported missing from the camping area surrounded by dense forest north of Fresno. The boy, from Torrance near Los Angeles, was located Friday morning in good condition near a lake about a quarter mile from the Rancheria Campground. He was hungry and tired but has been reunited with his parents.
Three perish in Florida rip current a day after couple drowns off state’s Atlantic coast
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) â Three men from Alabama tragically lost their lives after being ensnared in a rip current while taking an evening swim shortly after arriving at a beach in the Florida Panhandle. The deaths on Friday evening added to a series of fatalities in Florida, including the drowning of a Pennsylvania couple elsewhere in the state. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office reported that the three Birmingham, Alabama, men encountered a rip current shortly after entering the water. Each man was found separately by emergency responders and pronounced dead at hospitals. The Pennsylvania couple was vacationing with their six children when they got caught in a rip current off Hutchinson Island on the Atlantic coast.

The suspension was announced just two days after the 22-year-old MartĂnez made his debut in the major leagues. In a statement released on Sunday, MartĂnez apologized to the Blue Jays and their fans, revealing that he and his girlfriend were attempting to start a family, leading him to seek treatment at a fertility clinic in the Dominican Republic where he was prescribed a banned substance.
