Hunter Biden’s law license in DC has been suspended following his felony conviction, as per the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Earlier this month, the president’s son was found guilty on all three felony charges for lying about his illicit drug use on a federal form to buy a gun.
The Office of the Disciplinary Counsel had submitted a letter on June 17 to the D.C. Court of Appeals proposing the suspension order, according to reports.
On Tuesday, the appeals court announced the immediate suspension of Biden’s law license “pending the resolution of this matter and directing the Board on Professional Responsibility to commence a formal disciplinary proceeding to determine the nature of the misconduct.”
The suspension comes after Biden’s lawyers requested a new trial, arguing that the Delaware court did not have jurisdiction over the case.
If the current conviction is upheld, Biden could potentially face up to 25 years in prison.
President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden’s father, had previously expressed support for his son but stated he would “respect the judicial process” and not grant him a pardon.
Hunter Biden was convicted on June 11 after a three-hour jury deliberation.
