TDS Telecommunications LLC opened its first retail location in Helena on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting and a giant check.
The fiber-optic company’s retail location at 2030 Cromwell Dixon Lane, Suite F, held a ceremony even though the store has been open since February.
A team of TDS Telecommunications workers cut a ribbon signifying the grand opening of the company’s first retail location in Helena on June 25.
Helena Mcswain, a consumer specialist for the company who is one of two representatives at the location, said the store was working on staffing as well as getting other components up and running before holding a grand opening.
“This will make the community better as far as better internet. We make sure people that work from home and in businesses have good service,” Mcswain said.
During the celebration the company presented a donation to the Friendship Center of Helena for $2,000 for its collaboration efforts. The nonprofit center houses people from Lewis and Clark, Broadwater and Jefferson counties affected by domestic violence.

“We are so grateful to all of the work the staff at TDS is doing … We also want to thank from the bottom of our hearts all of the support that Stacy and her team give us at the chamber,” Helena Area Chamber of Commerce President Callie Aschim said.
