Olivia Lewis from Corvallis High School was named the Gatorade Montana Girls Track and Field Player of the Year on Tuesday.
The announcement was made by the sports drink company in a press release on Tuesday morning.
This award recognizes excellence both on the field and in the classroom, as well as contributions to the community, for high school girls track & field athletes, as stated in the press release.
Lewis, a 5-foot-7 senior sprinter/hurdler, set a new state record and won three gold medals during the state meet this season, leading her team to the Class A team state championship. Lewis achieved a time of 41.86 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles, ranking No. 19 in the nation at the time of her selection. She also won gold in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.49 and in the 400-meter race with a time of 55.52.

Lewis has been actively volunteering with the Special Olympics and Colors For Cancer 5K, as mentioned in the Gatorade press release. She has also participated in highway cleanups and food drives for those in need.
Rich Gonzalez, editor of PrepCalTrack.com, highlighted Lewis’s exceptional performance at the state meet, praising her versatility and durability. Despite restrictions on the number of events an athlete can participate in, Lewis scored in seven events and led her school to victory.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Lewis has maintained a 3.84 grade point average and will be competing on scholarship at Montana State University starting this fall.
