Elvis Presley once famously said not to step on his blue suede shoes, but now you have the opportunity to step in them for the right price.
A pair of blue suede shoes that belonged to the iconic King of Rock and Roll are currently up for sale by British auction house Henry Aldridge and Son. They are expected to fetch between $126,000 and $152,000.
These size 10 1/2 shoes bear the Nunn-Bush brand stamp on each heel and have been authenticated by Elvis Presley’s close friend and founder of the Elvis Presley Museum, Jimmy Velvet, as indicated in the auction listing.
The listing mentions that Presley wore these shoes both on and off stage in the 1950s. He even referenced wearing them during his performance on the Steve Allen show in 1956 before singing “I Want You, I Need You, I Love You” and later during a comedy skit with Andy Griffith on the same show.
The shoes were generously donated to the auction house by Alan Fortas, identified as a dear friend and entourage member of Presley.
Accompanying the shoes is a letter from Fortas detailing how he came to possess them, recounting a special moment at Graceland the night before Presley’s army induction.
The auction, featuring various other Elvis memorabilia, is set to conclude on Saturday.
Although the song “Blue Suede Shoes” is often associated with Elvis Presley, it was originally written and performed by rockabilly pioneer Carl Perkins in 1956. After Perkins was injured in a car accident, Presley covered the song on his debut album and released it as a single to support Perkins during his recovery, as reported by Financial Times and other sources.
