LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities stated on Tuesday that a man named Eric Adams, aged 47, who fatally shot five people and critically injured a 13-year-old girl at apartments near Las Vegas, has taken his own life. The North Las Vegas Police Department had been searching for Adams since the shootings occurred in separate apartment units on Monday night.
Upon investigating reports of a shooting late Monday at an apartment in North Las Vegas, police initially found two women dead. One woman was in her early 40s and the other in her late 50s. Additionally, a teen girl was taken to the hospital with critical gunshot wounds, leading officers to discover more victims in a nearby apartment. The bodies of two women in their mid-20s and a man in his early 20s were found, all shot by the suspect.
After an overnight search for Adams, authorities located him at a business in North Las Vegas. When officers approached him, Adams ran into the backyard of a nearby home with a firearm. Despite officers following him and instructing him to drop the weapon, Adams refused and ultimately died by suicide.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the shootings, describing it as an “isolated incident.” More information from the police department was not available at the time of reporting.
