BILLINGS — A strong cold front swiftly passed over Montana and northern Wyoming on Friday afternoon, sparking numerous severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, intense wind, hail, and lightning. The majority of the stormy weather will move out before nightfall, leaving behind a breezy evening with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.
Another area of low pressure will drift southward over Montana and Wyoming on Friday, ushering in cooler temperatures, clearer skies, and gusty winds. A small ridge of high pressure will bring calm and warm conditions on Saturday under mostly sunny skies. However, a trough of low pressure is expected to arrive on Sunday and Monday, introducing more unsettled weather.
Expect more chances for rain showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds late Sunday, Monday, and early Tuesday, though rainfall amounts are forecasted to be light to moderate. The unsettled weather pattern will persist into the latter half of next week, with additional rounds of rain showers, thunderstorms, and seasonable temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday.
