American Red Cross blood drive at Missoula Public Library
Be a kind-hearted hero when donating at a summertime blood drive hosted by Missoula Public Library. Be a force of nature for patients in need by donating lifesaving blood products this summer. In celebration of the theatrical release of Universal Pictures’ summer blockbuster, “Twisters,” donors will get a Fandango movie ticket by email. Donors can also get an exclusive “Twisters” & American Red Cross umbrella, while supplies last. Tiny Tales @ EmPower Place
Tiny Tales is back at Empower Place! Tiny Tales uses sounds, rhythms and movement to help your child learn to read! Participants will sing songs, learn finger-plays and nursery rhymes, and hear stories. This program takes place every Tuesday with the next program held on July 2 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the conference room on the 2nd floor of EmPower Place, located at 1720 Wyoming Street in Missoula.

Read with Dogs
Registered Pet Partners Therapy Dog teams are just waiting for your child to read them a book at Missoula Public Library! Your child can read a favorite book from home or pick one of the many picture books we have to offer. This program is held on July 2 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Imaginarium on Level Two of the library and is great for hesitant readers or kids who just love dogs.
Potomac Branch Summer Reading Club
Calling all Potomac summer readers! Want to share what you’ve been reading? Need some inspiration or suggestions for your next read? Want to make progress on your Summer Reading? Log in to win some great prizes? On July 3 from 4 to 5 p.m. stop by the Potomac Branch for this unstructured, read-what-you-want book club! Snacks and bookish enthusiasm will be provided by your friendly librarian.
Missoula Public Library Independence Day closure

Tiny Tales in the Park
This summer, the Missoula Public Library and Missoula Parks & Rec are teaming up to bring Tiny Tales to the park! Every Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Westside Park, meet us under the trees on the Sherwood side of the park for songs, rhymes and movements for kids ages 0-3. The next program is held on July 5. During inclement weather Tiny Tales is held in the Lowell School gym or cafeteria.

Calling all knitters and crocheters! On July 5 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Blackfoot Room on Level Four of the library bring your lunch and your latest project and end your week with some crafty fun.
MakerSpace Electronics: Arduino for Beginners
Learn the basics of electronics using an Arduino device on July 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the library’s MakerSpace. Arduinos combine software coding with hardware to do a wide variety of things. It’s a great way to learn the basics of circuitry, coding and more. All materials are provided. Workshop is appropriate for patrons ages 10 and up and space is limited to 15 participants. Financial Literacy Class
Want to take control of your finances? The Missoula Public Library has partnered with the International Rescue Committee who has collaborated with Clearwater Credit Union to offer an ongoing financial education course. Each week will feature a new topic. Courses this week will be held Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Blackfoot Room and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in Cooper Room A. The courses will be held in English with the following interpretation schedule: Monday in Dari/Pashto, Tuesday in Arabic, and Friday in Swahili.
Summer Learning Program: West African Kora Concert with Sean Gaskell
On July 8 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Cooper Room A/B on Level Four of the library enjoy a performance with Sean Gaskell as he demonstrates the West African kora, a 21-22 string harp. Sean’s experiences in West Africa come through in this program where he will intertwine educational information by performing songs on his own West African kora.
