July celebration at Centennial Park
The Helena Ambassadors will again sponsor the free, community-wide Capital City July 4th Celebration at Centennial Park.
The free festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. and end around 2 p.m. Thursday.
The celebration is a family-oriented event with free hot dogs cooked and served by the Helena Lions Club, root beer floats served by volunteers from Valley Bank, and sunscreen and chilled bottled water provided by St. Peter’s Health. Safeway/Albertsons provides the hot dogs and buns and the ice cream.
The festivities include bounce houses and live music by the band Just In Case.
The summer weight flag will be delivered to Centennial Park by the Montana Department of Natural Resources Helicopter Team. Touchdown is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. with the flag-raising ceremony at noon.

Also on the helicopter will be this year’s flag honoree, Peter Sullivan, a longtime Helena ambassador who retired in 2016 from his business, Sullivan Financial Group, after a 53-year career in financial services.
Sullivan has been involved in numerous community organizations and served as president of the Helena Chamber of Commerce, the St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, and the Helena Jaycees. He is a retired captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.
The Old Glory Landmark and flags that fly at the landmark are supported by tax-deductible donations and by the purchase of commemorative engraved bricks (also tax-deductible) that are placed in holders around the Landmark. East Helena ready to light the sky
The Prickly Pear Community Firework Celebration will be 10:30 p.m. Thursday at the slag pile in East Helena, organizers said.
The fireworks event is hosted by Shellie’s Country Cafe and the Montana Radio Co. It is sponsored by Town Pump Helena Insulation, BCBS of MT, Eagles 4040, Tri-County Disposal, VFW Post #10010, Montana Propane, the city of East Helena, Independent Record, Dick Anderson Construction, Morrison Maierle, Montana Eyecare, Montana Propane, Helena Farm Supply, Topgun Autobody, Frontline Glass, Toyota of Helena, Ash Grove, Harrington Bottling Co. and others.

Mountain View Meadows plans fun day
There will be a July Fourth celebration at Mountain View Park that is free and open to the public and includes live music and special activities.
From 3-5 p.m. Thursday there is sidewalk art fun and a basketball “Best of 10 Showdown.”
