A federal judge has rejected Steve Bannon’s request to remain out of prison while he appeals his case. In a document issued on Friday in Bannon’s case, Stephen K. V. United States, the judge stated in a brief order, “The request for release pending appeal brought to The Chief Justice and referred by him to the Court has been denied.”
The longtime political adviser to former President Donald Trump had submitted the request earlier this summer, as reported by Scripps News.

A federal appeals court had previously denied Bannon’s request to delay his four-month prison sentence, instructing him to report to jail by July 1. In a similar situation, Peter Navarro, a former White House official under the Trump administration, began serving his four-month sentence in March for contempt of Congress.
Both Navarro and Bannon were found guilty of disobeying a Congressional subpoena seeking documents related to a House probe into the U.S. Capitol riots.
