A federal judge has rejected Steve Bannon’s request to remain out of prison while he appeals his case. In a document released on Friday in the case of Bannon, Stephen K. V. United States, the judge stated in a one-page order, “The application for release pending appeal presented to The Chief Justice and by him referred to the Court is denied.”
The longtime political adviser to former President Donald Trump had submitted the request earlier this summer, as reported by Scripps News.

A federal appeals court had previously refused to postpone Bannon’s four-month prison sentence, instructing him to report to jail by July 1. In a similar situation, Peter Navarro, a former White House official under the Trump administration, began serving his four-month sentence in March after being sentenced for contempt of Congress. Both Navarro and Bannon were found guilty of ignoring a Congressional subpoena requesting documents related to a House investigation into the U.S. Capitol riots.
