BILLINGS — A trough of low pressure has settled over southern Canada and the northern tier of the United States, allowing several disturbances to bring unsettled weather to Montana and Wyoming in the first week of July. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening, with calmer weather by Tuesday morning.
The calm weather won’t last long, as scattered thunderstorms develop in the afternoon and evening. While severe thunderstorms are not expected, strong thunderstorms are possible. Showers and thunderstorms will persist on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings.
Another disturbance will bring more rain showers and isolated thunderstorms on Thursday, the Fourth of July. Most areas should only see light to moderate rain, but it may impact some holiday plans. A ridge of high pressure dominating the West Coast’s weather will attempt to move towards our region by the weekend.
