Climate change doesn’t care if you’re liberal or conservative. The carbon pollution that causes climate change impacts everyone with more frequent, intense wildfires, extreme weather events, and drought.
All candidates and incumbents need to be well-informed and have viable climate plans.
Montana’s Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a nonpartisan volunteer organization. We just visited Sen. Jon Tester and Steve Daines and Reps. Matt Rosendale and Ryan Zinke in D.C. to discuss our solutions:
- (1) A bipartisan comprehensive package of clean energy permitting reforms so that interregional transmission can be permitted and built faster;
- (2) The bipartisan PROVE IT Act, introduced by Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), to require the Dept. of Energy to study and compare the carbon emissions of products produced in the U.S. vs. other countries to help ensure carbon emissions are lowered worldwide;
- (3) A revenue-neutral carbon fee with cashback to all households to grow U.S. jobs, improve public health, and reduce carbon emissions; and
- (4) Healthy forests to pull carbon out of the air and reduce wildfire risks.
