Many Americans are going to experience a hot Fourth of July holiday as high temperatures are expected to cover much of the United States.
Over 120 million Americans are currently under heat-related advisories and watches due to excessive heat affecting the South, Southwest, and most of California. Meteorologist Scott Withers from Scripps News stated that the extreme heat will continue in the upcoming days and cautioned people to take precautions during the July Fourth holiday to prevent heat-related injuries or illnesses.

Symptoms of heat exhaustion include heavy sweating, cold and clammy skin, muscle cramps, fatigue, and dizziness. If left untreated, heat exhaustion can escalate to heat stroke, which poses serious health risks and can be fatal. Symptoms of heat stroke include a body temperature of 103 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, hot and moist skin, headache, dizziness, and nausea.
Staying hydrated and cool is crucial to combatting the extreme temperatures, which are expected to persist for an extended period. Cooling centers will be available in various cities to provide relief for those in need.
