Don’t worry if you’re waiting until the last minute to get those Fourth of July barbecue groceries; some stores will still have you covered.
While most government offices are closed for the federal holiday, other businesses are staying open, albeit with limited hours for many.
Since the Fourth of July falls in the middle of summer and is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year, places that cater to visitors like hotels, gas stations, and airports will be open — and busy.
Here’s the scoop on the Fourth of July hours for some common stops.
Government and Banking
Most nonessential government employees are off work on federal holidays like July Fourth, as their offices are closed in observance.
This includes U.S. Postal Service employees, so there will be no mail delivery on the holiday. UPS and FedEx pickup and delivery services will also be on hold, though store hours may vary by location.
Other nonessential government offices that will be closed include the DMV and public libraries.
Public schools, courts, the stock market, and most banks will also be closed, though ATM and online services will still be available.
